Horehound

Horehound is a 0.30 - 1 m weed with a short, branched stem. The leaves are petioled with wrinkled undersides and the flowers are small and white. Horehound is found in western, central and northern Europe. The entire plant is employed for medicinal purposes.

Boil 1 teaspoon of leaves and flowering tops in 1 cup water. Drink when cold; 1 teaspoon at a time, 1 cup per day.

There are no known side effects of Horehound. However, it’s effect on pregnant and lactating women is unknown and should thus be avoided by them.
