Yellow Dock

Yellow Dock is a small, leafy plant about 100cm high with petioled, large or small leaves, dense whorl of flowers and a thick, fleshy rhizome. The plant is found in Africa, Europe and the United State. The medicinal parts are the fresh and dried roots possessing blood purifying, diaphoretic and healing properties.

Decoction: Boil 2-ounce fresh root or 1 ounce dried root in 1-pint water. Drink 2 fluid ounces daily.

Yellow Dock Side Effects

Over dosage can lead to irritation of the mucous membrane accompanied with vomiting due to the anthrone content of the herb. The leaves should be avoided as they are toxic and if consumed, can lead to death.
