Bladder wrack is a seaweed common in colder waters.

Bladderwrack Historical Use

Bladderwrack was the main source for iodine for over 50 years in the 18th century and was used extensively to treat goiter. In the 1860s, it was claimed to counter obesity by stimulating the thyroid glands and increasing the metabolic rate.

Where obesity is associated with thyroid trouble, bladder wrack may be Enhanceful in reducing excess weight.
